This is simple. They help you feel safe inside your home.
A genuine security door is tested to meet Australian Standards, including impact, knife, and bushfire tests, which provides much more strength than a basic fly screen-style door or barrier screen door.
A security door will provide added protection to help keep your family and possessions safe from home invasions and break-ins.
Bulleen Screens is a proud member of the NSSA – the National Security Screen Association. As a member, we are required to meet strict compliance obligations and provide transparent product information. This ensures that we manufacture genuine security doors and screens.
A genuine security door has been tested to pass the strict Australian Standards AS50391 and AS5039.3. The door will have a compliance sticker indicating that it meets the Australian Standards and will almost always have a triple lock fitted, securing the door at the top, middle, and bottom.
The term ‘security door’ is often incorrectly used by many companies to describe the style of door that is typically just a step up from a traditional flyscreen door. This is misleading, as they are usually just barrier screen doors and will not offer the same level of protection as a genuine security door.
A barrier screen door can sometimes resemble a security door, but it will not display the Australian Standards compliance sticker, as it does not meet the Australian standards. It is suitable for keeping flies out and for airflow, but they are not the same physical construction or materials as a genuine security door.
Bulleen Screen products come with a warranty that includes the fabrication and installation of your products, covering the structural integrity of the products. This is a non-transferable warranty and covers the original purchaser in a residential installation of the product while living in the home.
The warranty is subject to the Terms and Conditions and does not cover misuse of the product, storm damage, or accidental damage caused by removal or pets. It is contingent upon proper care and maintenance, as outlined in our Care Guide.
We provide a limited warranty for Commercial and Rental property installations.
For our residential customers, one of our Retail Consultants will contact you directly within 24 hours to discuss your requirements and schedule an appointment at a convenient time.
Our Retail Consultants have some flexibility with the time of day for completing the on-site quotation, so you can discuss this with them directly when they contact you to schedule your appointment for the quotation.
In most cases, they can provide you with the quotation at the time of their site visit.
For our trade and commercial customers, our office will contact you a couple of days before arrival to check your availability on site for an Installer to measure. We’ll let you know the day and give you a time window for our Installer to arrive.
Our Installers are on the road from 7 am to around 2 pm, Monday to Friday, and all measures are carried out during these hours and are not available for after-hours site measures or installations. We can try to book your appointment as the first one of the day, when the arrival timing is more accurate.
Suppose your job involves a front door, external doors, or easily accessible flyscreens. In that case, we can possibly complete a check measure and installation without you needing to be home, with your permission. Your written quote will be provided within 1–2 business days via the office.
If you have a project that is yet to be built, please call the office on 9568 5568 and we can work with you to create a window schedule and plan to provide the right advice on products and a price estimate.
Yes, we manufacture screens for the BAL zones ( Bushfire Attack Levels) and have completed numerous residential, public, educational and commercial properties within the Bushfire Prone Area.
In Victoria, a BAL (Bushfire Attack Level) rating is a classification system for a property’s bushfire risk that determines specific construction requirements for new buildings, ranging from BAL-Low (minimal risk) to the extreme BAL-FZ (Flame Zone).
The BAL system is a scale of increasing risk, measured in kilowatts per square metre (kW/m²):
- BAL-Low: Insufficient risk to justify specific construction requirements.
- BAL-12.5: Risk of ember attack.
- BAL-19: Increasing levels of ember attack and some heat flux.
- BAL-29: Moderate risk from embers, burning debris, and increased radiant heat.
- BAL-40: High risk of ember attack, debris, and significant radiant heat, with a chance of flame exposure.
- BAL-FZ (Flame Zone): The highest risk level, involving direct flame exposure, high radiant heat, and ember attack.

Please contact us with your actual BAL zone rating for your property and we will recommend the suitable mesh screen type for your property.
The purpose of a fire attenuation screen is to increase the chance of people safely leaving a building under threat of fire and reduce the intensity of the fire impact whilst the fire is being brought under control.
Fire Attenuation Screens are often specified on new buildings or renovations where required to meet the National construction code if a building is less than 3m from a property boundary or within 6m of another building.
We manufacture screens that meet these requirements. Call us for more details.
